What is the Guild of Master Craftsmen?

If you’re looking for garage door professionals to supply, install or maintain your garage doors, you’ll inevitably want to make sure you’re working with the best.

Here at Rollerdor, we have spent more than a decade providing our customers nationwide with leading garage door products and services that can enhance every type of property.

But you don’t just need to take our word for it.

Over the years we’ve earned numerous accreditations from some of the industry’s biggest and most well-respected organisations in the UK. This includes being proud members of the prestigious Guild of Master Craftsmen.

In this article, we’ll take a look at what the Guild of Master Craftsmen does and how being a member benefits our customers.

What is the Guild of Master Craftsmen?

Formed in the 1970s, the Guild of Master Craftsmen brings together the most talented and respected professionals across a whole host of industries. Some of the craftsmen that are part of the guild includes builders, plumbers, landscapers, electricians and, of course, garage door technicians.

The guild looks to promote quality across its offering in order to provide customers looking for craftsmen with the very best options. In order to become a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen, any prospective candidates must go through a rigorous assessment process to ensure the guild’s extremely high standards are met. With this in mind, everyone here at Rollerdor is immensely proud to be a member.

Only guild members are permitted to use the Guild of Master Craftsmen’s logos and icons on their websites and marketing materials. This is because it’s an instant recognition of high standards and any business that is a member can be trusted to provide high-quality products and services.

The work doesn’t stop once membership has been achieved either.

The Guild of Master Craftsmen has immensely high standards, and if these standards slip then membership can be revoked. At Rollerdor, we make sure to maintain exceptionally high standards in every aspect of our work in order to proudly retain our membership and provide customers with the very best level of service every time.

The aims of the Guild of Master Craftsmen

Every member of the guild must adhere to the group’s eleven core aims and objectives. If any of these are not maintained then membership will be revoked.

These aims include:

  • Bringing together artisans in a whole host of different crafts, members must safeguard the interests of the guild and the general public.
  • Minimum qualifications for membership must be met. Any unskilled tradesmen cannot be part of a guild organisation.
  • To publicise the guild and its high standards wherever possible, including in the media if appropriate.
  • To promote to the public the guild’s members, highlighting the high standards and professional expertise they offer.
  • Clear and easy-to-understand recognition is provided to all members. This helps the public distinguish them from unskilled traders.
  • To protect all members from bureaucratic discrimination, penal taxation and adverse legislation. Equally, the public will be protected, as guild members have a sense of responsibility to customers and national importance due to their quality work.
  • To encourage diverse views between members which can be discussed and brought to the attention of national and local authorities when appropriate in order to make positive industry changes.
  • To create pressure groups that seek the support of Members of Parliament (MPs) to ensure the guild’s interests are supported.
  • To continuously research and innovate within the profession.
  • Fostering a culture of learning among employees including training apprentices and students where necessary.
  • To encourage sponsorship of the Guild of Master Craftsmen.
