Getting ready for your new garage doors

In this article, we’ll outline some of the things you can do prior to our arrival at your property to ensure your home is best prepared for the installation of your new doors.  

Get your garage organised 

Whether we’re installing your new garage door for you or you’re doing it yourself, the process will involve attaching the new product to your garage’s opening. As you’d expect, this means easy access will be required. 

To make the installation process easier for yourself and our expert technicians, we’d recommend giving the garage a bit of a tidy-up to ensure all equipment and items are properly stored so as to allow a one-metre depth inside of the garage opening. This will remove the risk of any trip hazards and give a clutter-free space where the work can be carried out. 

It’s understandable that garages get a bit messy over time, so having new doors installed is a great opportunity to give the space a tidy-up, too. 

Move your vehicles to a safe place 

As previously mentioned, to install a garage door effectively, space is required during the whole process. While a garage is a place where vehicles are often stored, a new door can’t be installed while your car is in situ or on the driveway. 

With this in mind, we recommend moving it and parking it in a safe place while the work is carried out. This could be on the road outside of your property, at a friend’s house or in a car park. Doing this also guarantees that your vehicle is not accidentally damaged during installation.  

Decide where to place wall consoles and openers 

One of the main decisions when having a roller garage door installed is where the wall consoles and openers will be placed. While our technicians will of course be on hand to advise, it’s always a good idea for you to look around your garage before the doors are delivered and work out the best places for them to be fitted.

You may well be using the doors on a daily basis, so it makes sense for you to work out what’s most convenient for you.
